It is expected that by 2025, Vietnam will have more passion fruit products exported to the US, while lychee is completing documents to access the Korean market.
The information was shared by Mr. Tran Van Chien, Deputy Director of the Post-Import Plant Quarantine Center I (Plant Protection Department), at the forum on improving the quality and value chain of agricultural products in the North, organized by the Department of Crop Production and related units on December 6.
Mr. Chien said that Vietnam and the US are negotiating plant quarantine measures for fresh passion fruit. This process is expected to be completed in 2025.
In August, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that it had completed the technical negotiation process and moved on to implementing legal procedures to allow the import of Vietnamese passion fruit to the US market.
The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association forecasts that the annual export turnover of passion fruit to the US will reach 50-100 million USD.
